Passengers on a Skyway flight had an unexpected experience when their plane was spotted trailing smoke. ATC recordings reveal a series of tense exchanges between the flight crew and air traffic control as the situation unfolded.

The flight, identified as SC 6320, was on its way when the tower alerted them about the trail of smoke following their aircraft. In a calm but serious tone, the air traffic controller informed the crew, “Skyway 6328 appears you have a trail of smoke following the aircraft.” This message nudged the crew to quickly assess their situation and make the decision to return to the airport.
The pilots responded promptly, indicating a wish to return safely. “We’d like to return to field,” they confirmed. ATC then guided them to maintain an altitude of 5,000 feet while assuring them that everything was being managed accordingly.
As they navigated back, ATC provided information about nearby weather conditions and offered options for landing. “There’s a little bit of weather on Final for 3 sixes,” a controller mentioned, revealing that the crew had a few choices for landing routes.
